The Backyard Food Truck Community

And now they're here!
The Food Truck has finally reached the City of Dasmariñas! I am SOOOOO HAPPY!!! =D

The Backyard Food Truck Community is located at Aguinaldo Highway, near corner Guevara St. It's just right in front of Medcrest Clinic

These are the buses that produces good food... Fugo Wagon and Hungry Rover Gastrobus.

Fugo Wagon

Hungry Rover Gastrobus

The theme of the place is "Tambayan" (place where you hangout - simple place, simple chairs and tables under a tent) where you eat your comfort-type, tambayan food like Pasta, Tapsilog, Burgers and Nachos. But the good thing about these awesome food trucks is that they offer you these kind of food with a twist! Something you'll not see here everyday in Dasmariñas City.

Spaghetti Ala Marinara

Spaghetti Ala Marinara - It may look simple, but remember the saying "don't judge the book by it's cover"? This really is a one good tasting pasta! Kudos to Fugo Wagon. My heart sank when a strong wind blew this, spilling the remaining pasta on the floor. Anyways... next time I'll make sure to hold the plate while eating it LOL! =D

Eggplant Parmigiana

Eggplant Parmigiana - I love eggplant, and this ones awesome! It has cheese inside which made it even more better! I mean, I'm gonna order this again next time LOL!  But one thing though, the serving is a bit small. I was literally eating it slowly cause I don't wanna finish it right away cause it tastes really good! =)

Rover Burger
Rover Burger - The beef used in this burger is Angus Beef which really is tender and tasty. I really liked it! Serving is big too! The Nachos on the side is just so-so though... I wish they could have added like cheese on top or dip on the side. It's fun to eat Nachos with sauce right? =)

Wagyu Burger - Grilled, huge, tasty patty! So sorry... my phone's cam didn't give it justice, but we liked it! We just added ketchup, mayo and mustard, and voila! Like I ate a burger from a fancy restaurant LOL! =D I wish they can add more variety to this... Maybe veggies? Mushrooms with melted cheese? Bacon? Hehe! =)

I was planning to order another one, Angus Beef Tapsilog which I've never tried yet. Sadly though, Hungry Rover just arrived when we got there. There's no cooked rice yet, so we decided to skip it. But don't worry, I'll make sure to order it next time. =)

Overall... Food-truck theme is a great idea... it's unique. Food plating and presentation is not so good though. I mean, we get the idea that the theme is "tambayan", "backyard", "cowboy" type, but I wish they could have placed the food in a nicer plate, so that it won't be easily blown away by a strong wind since the place is in an open area. The Food is really good! It's not your typical kind of food here in Dasmariñas. So if you're looking for a comfort, but different kind of food... The Backyard Food Truck Community is the place to be! A must try! It will be a lot more fun if you bring your barkada! =)

Tip:
Always check The Backyard Food Truck Community Facebook page for updates, and days and hours of operation. They usually post it there if there's any changes.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

As promised... This is where we spent the 3rd day of our Wedding Anniversary. Sorry... It took me a while, a looooong while LOL! =D

Makati Branch

We've actually been to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka's 2 branches over these past few months, Makati and Mall of Asia branch. We got really hocked up with Ramen, and for us, this Ramen house offers one of the best deals not just because of the quality of their food, but also with their set menus.

For this blog post, I'm gonna show both pictures we took from Makati and Mall of Asia branch, so you guys can have a better idea of what Hokkaido Ramen Santouka offers. =)

Mall of Asia Branch

These are their best sellers... Ramen, of course! =D

Shio Ramen

Shio Ramen (Salt Flavor) has this light meaty with creamy, milky-like taste. It's tasty and my oh my... so good! The meat, soup and ramen... I mean... just wow! A must try! =D

Shoyu Ramen

Shoyu Ramen (Soy Sauce Flavor) has a stronger meaty taste compared to Shio, but not that salty type of "stronger". The flavor is just right, but you can really taste the meatiness. This one's a wow too... the meat is also tender, and the ramen is... wow! This is also a must try! =)

Hokkaido Ramen Santauka's Ramen comes in 3 different sizes:
Small - for the small appetite, feminine type of eaters.
Medium - for the regular type of eaters
Large - for the I'm-so-hungry-I-can-eat-everything, stomach-exploding type of eaters LOL! But hey! I'm serious! =D

You can check out the different kinds of Ramen they offer and their descriptions at this link:

Now, remember I mentioned earlier that they offer "Set Menus"? Oh yes, they do. For us, this makes them different and better compared to the other Ramen Houses out there, cause customers gets a chance to enjoy their other menus at a packaged price. It includes Komi-Tamago (Japanese soft boiled egg which I really like), Salad, Kimchi and Tea. Let's not forget that it comes with Unlimited Rice! =)

Tonkatsu Set, and Ebi Furai and Fried Salmon Set

Tonkatsu
Ebi Furai and Fried Salmon Set, Gyoza, Aburi Char Siu, Mango Shake and House Blend Ice Tea

On this one, we tried the Aburi Char Siu (the one on the grill that looks like a lamp LOL!) which for me, is just okay. It's good, but the quantity (it's thinly sliced) and price is something I won't really recommend. For us, it feels like it's overpriced. On the other hand, Gyoza is really good! Hope they can come up with a Ramen Set Menu with this one... They're partners right? =)

For our drinks, mine's Mango Shake and my hubby ordered the House Blend Iced Tea Shake, which taste like a regular iced tea... nothing special.

So for us, overall... We highly recommend you to visit Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
Awesome Ramen, great menu set, big servings at a good price! ;-)

The Before and After... Burp!

The Original Hawaiian Bar-B-Que, Tagaytay

It's December again! That means, It's our Wedding Anniversary again! We're now on our 3rd year! Gosh... How time flies!

Alright, I know a lot of us get really stressed out, especially us girls when special occasions like this comes. I admit! I get all stressed out planning what to do or where to go on our wedding anniversary (I can never count on my Hubby when preparing for special occasions like this. We might end up spending it in Jollibee or KFC, and that's a big NO NO! LOL!).

We really wanted to go out of town this year, but sadly we're on a tight budget. We decided then to just spend it somewhere near, but make it like a 3-day special (3 years = 3 days... Make sense? LOL!) On our first day, we went to church, movie-date - The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and on the evening, we went food tripping beside the church - yummy goto, awesome bibingka and fantastic puto bubong... Heaven! =D

On our second day, we decided to go to Tagaytay and have our late lunch at The Original Hawaiian Bar-B-Que. This restaurant is inside The Boutique Bed and Breakfast, which is located at Aguinaldo Highway. Very accessible.

I have read good reviews about the food here, especially the Original Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs.

When the waiter served us this Original Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs, my first reaction was: "Wow! Enormous!" LOL! It was really big! The waiter said it's good for 2, we think it's good for 2-3... That's how big it is! And the taste? Hands down - Superb! It was juicy, flavorful and tender. Oh my... We can't hide the smile in our faces! SUPER MUST TRY!!! =D

For our Appetizer, we ordered Mushroom and Macadamia Nut Soup. Big servings, good for 2-3. The taste was good too, a little salty though.

For our sidings, we ordered Baked Potatoes with Sour Cream and Chives. If you love potatoes, this is a must try! So creamy... Oh! We loved it! Baby Back Ribs' perfect partner. =)

We also ordered this, Baked Cheesy Cauliflower. I got enticed with the word "Cheesy" LOL! I love cheese! We were looking for a veggie-type of sidings, and we think this goes very well too with the Baby Back Ribs. It's cheesy, and creamy... and the cauliflower... another must try! =)

For our drinks, My hubby originally ordered Fresh Lemonade, but since it's out of stock, we decided to order their House Blend Hawaiian Iced Tea instead. It was well presented, but the taste... just okay. It's Iced Tea.

Overall all... We had a great time here in The Original Hawaiian Bar-B-Que, Tagaytay! We were so full and satisfied! Big servings. Ambiance is very nice... Overlooking Taal Volcano. Friendly staff. Highly recommended! =)

Hope you'll find this useful...
Enjoy life and much love...

P.S. I'll be creating another blog post on where we spent the 3rd day of our Wedding Anniversary. =)

The Earth-friendly EcoTools Brushes!

Hi everyone!

After a long, loooooong time…. Thank God, I’m back! I’ve been very lazy blogging these past few months, but at last! I found something worth blogging! Yey! =D

Alright, so these past few months I've been really interested with make-ups. For those people who know me personally, this might be a little shocking for them hahaha! I’m actually a type of girl who is contented with a clean face and a loose powder, preferably Johnson’s Baby Powder. I know, I’m a late bloomer! Thanks to my bestfriend - Aika, my gay friend - Derick, and the EM-spiration - Michelle Phan… They gradually introduced me to the world of makeup, and all the kikay-ness that goes with it.

When it comes to makeup, I always go for the simple, natural everyday look. I've bought few good make-ups, but I noticed I’m not getting the “look” that I’m trying to achieve. After watching one of Michelle Phan’s video, I realized that it’s because of my brushes! I was just using those free, small and hard-to-use applicators that comes with the make-up I bought. And no matter how good the quality of your makeup is, the free applicators just can’t bring that out! So, if you want to achieve the “look” that you want, invest on your brushes!

Okay, so for a newbie like me… What do I know about these confusing brushes?! The wide variety of eyeshadow colors already makes me dizzy, and here’s another one that will add to my dizziness! The confusing world of make-up… there’s so much to learn hahaha! Thank God, Google is there for us lost people trying to search for answers! =D

For my first set of brushes, the search was really hard. I didn't have any idea that brushes can be that ridiculously expensive! So, I tried searching for the cheap, but good quality ones... And Google gave the answer! Presenting…. EcoTools!

EcoTools is a brand that produces eco-friendly products! It doesn't just make you beautiful, it also helps mother Earth! Don’t you just love supporting that kind of cause… =)

Being a newbie in the world of makeup, I decided to go with this 6 Piece Starter Brush Set. It includes:
  •        Blush Brush
  •        Concealer Brush
  •         Eye Shading Brush
  •         Eyeliner Brush
  •         Lash and Brow Groomer
  •         Cosmetic Bag

Believe me when I say… These are really AWESOME brushes! They’re very soft and it doesn't hurt your skin. This is super way better than the cheap brushes you see in Dept. Store. For the price of P650 (yes! Just P650 for the 6 Piece Brush Set), you have yourself a great deal here girl! I've shopped around countless times trying to find good but cheap brushes in Dept. Stores and other beauty stores, but I couldn't find one! The brush set that I've found that I think is good and not that expensive compared to Mac, etc. cost more than P1,200! Ridiculous right?!

TIP: Do not settle for less! Do not be blinded with cheap brushes that you see in the stores. If you check closely the quality of those cheap brushes, you'll see that the bristles are hard. You don't want to scratch your face with those cheap brushes! Big NO NO!

Now, where did I buy it? Well, that’s another challenge. This baby is not something that you can easily find here in the Philippines. I heard they sell it in PCX (Personal Care Exchange), but when I called them they said it’s already out of stock. They also don’t know when they’re gonna have new stocks. Sucks, I know. So I searched and searched in Google, and I only found online stores that sell this.

IMPORTANT: THERE’S A LOT OF FAKE ECOTOOLS BRUSHES ONLINE! BEWARE! Thank God for those blogs and videos that I've found online that made me aware of this. Thank you sisters for making those very informative blogs and videos! You girls saved me from making the same mistake. Thank you! If you wanna know more about Ecotool’s Fake vs. Original, just search it in Google… You’ll find a lot there even in Youtube.

Oh by the way, before I forget… Hahaha! I got mine from Lipstick ALL U A CAN, an online store that sells US Authentic make-ups, and an official distributor of EcoTools! So, if you want to be sure… Order here! Jessie is very accommodating in answering all my questions, you know… being the newbie that I am hehehe! Fast and smooth transaction, thumbs up! (This is not a paid advertisement! Just simply commending her which I believe she deserves.)

TIP: This Ecotool 6 Piece Starter Brush Set cost $12.99 in the US. If you convert it in PHP, that would roughly be around P550. If you see this same Ecotools set online, but is being sold at a lower price… Beware! That could be a fake one. And also, investigate first before buying, especially if you’re buying online! Ask the seller if the brushes came from the US, If he/she tells you that it came from Singapore that’s why they’re selling it cheaper than the ones in the US, that’s fake! Ecotools is made in China, but is being sold in the US and other countries. Check this site for more information: http://www.ecotools.com/where-to-buy.

So, that’s it!

Hope you’ll find this useful.

Enjoy life and much love…

Fun Day at Star Movies Cafe

It has been months since I wrote my last blog! Hahaha! Anyways, I’m back and I’m gonna try my best (as long as the laziness and the writer’s block don’t kick in) to update this blog.

So it’s February, my birthday month! My husband and I were thinking of eating somewhere new to celebrate my birthday. So, we went to the ever-friendly website Metrodeal.com to check out what’s new, and of course, the great deals. Upon browsing, I saw this great deal: “Indulge in Mouthwatering Steaks, Sausages & More at Movie Stars Cafe's Unlimited Dino Buffet”, and it was like the fonts are all shinning and telling me “I’m the best deal you are looking for!!!”. So, I went to my other bestfriend, Google and searched for it. I found the website under the name Star Movies Cafe

They go by two names, if you noticed. “Movie Stars Cafe” and “Star Movies Cafe”. Confusing... I know, especially when you like to include it on your Facebook status LOL! Going back, we found pictures of it and it made us really excited! It’s a themed restaurant where the crew serving you is wearing different movie-character costumes! Looks really cool! We didn't waste any more of our time and we went ahead and called the merchant, and bought the groupons!

It’s Movie Stars Cafe, but on their website it’s Star Movies Cafe. They should have this fixed.

Forgive my pictures, I just took them using my phone’s camera. I know... I know... It sucks! We regretted not bringing our baby Olympus camera with us.

Me with Bumblebee, one of my favorite movie characters

My number 1 favorite, Iron Man. Too bad, the Iron Man suit hasn't arrived yet.

Look! I'm holding Darth Vader's Lightsaber! Cool!

Muchie-muchie with the Stormtroopers from Star Wars

By special request (birthday privileged LOL!), group picture with the Stormtroopers!

My hubby with the Stormtroopers. Cool!

The place spells F-U-N! You get to see your favorite movie character like Spiderman, Darth Vader, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and a whole lot more serve you and perform on stage. This is the first time I saw Darth Vader shake his booty like crazy on stage! We were laughing endlessly! They also have live bands. I was waiting for Iron Man to come out (I’m a huge fan of Iron Man, and the sexy Robert Downey Jr.), but Bumblebee told me, or should I say the guy wearing the Bumblebee costume told me that the Iron Man suit hasn’t arrived yet. Sad, I know. The food was good too, but a little limited. I hope they add more to it since the original Dino Buffet price, P699.00 is a little pricey. Good thing we got it half the price from Metrodeal.

Tip: Always check groupon sites like Metrodeal, CashCashPinoy, and Ensogo.ph. They will give you the best deals in town. Just remember to call the merchant first before placing your order to check their validity, inclusions, exclusions, policies, etc.

And there you have it! If you’re looking for a fun, themed, buffet restaurant... then this is the place to be!

Hope you'll find this useful.
Enjoy life and much love...
